We Regret to Inform You...

So I got my dreaded letter from the School of Nursing 2 days ago. I did not get a spot for the January class. It is based on the date you entered the school as a pre nursing major. Since I am a transfer this causes my matriculation date to be later than the girls who did all their gen. ed. at UNLV. Alas, I am officially "wait listed".
This is not a merit based system, which I find relieving at the moment. Sometimes the "Type A" in me comes out and I think, " Man I wished they based it on G.P.A. or an interview or some grandiose application essay!"

But at the moment, beat down Rosie likes the fact that they've stripped me of the option of "earning it". When I first got the letter I was really bummed, but I'm refocusing all that "little whinny bitch" energy into something more constructive....A List! A list of all the things that I intend to do in the 4 months I will be free from the shackles of school.

"The Summer of George!" List, Spring 2006:
1. Refinish my hope chest.
2. Train for the Rock N' Roll Marathon in San Diego.
3. Read War and Peace.
4. Knit leg warmers.
5. Visit the following: Suzanne of the Portland, The Chapmans of the Arizona, The masses of the Big Bear, The Talbots of the Santa Rosa, and The Brother of the Redding.
6. Take a ballet and yoga class at the college.
7. Remember and acknowledge everybody's birthday and anniversaries.
8. Make home made stationary by the bulk.
9. Begin Lost from season one, see what all the fuss is about.
10. Become a regular at my local bar and church.
So you see, what the letter should have said was, "Dear Ms. Piacentini, We regret to inform you that the next 4 months are going to kick ass."
