Those damn Russians

I'm almost done with The Brothers Karamazov. So I ask you: should I read War and Peace next, or stick with my pact with myself to lay off the Russian literature for awhile? The book intrigues me greatly, but scares me as well. There are solders on the cover, and I will assume from such a title there may be some pesky "war" plot involved. I'm not a huge fan of books about war, though I liked Heart of Darkness (I remember it being more psychologically based than war based, but really who can remember?)...All this aside...I'm scared, because once I've started a beast like that, no matter how bored I am I will make myself finish it. Help! Maybe I'll just read magazines all summer, magazines are very summerish/by the pool type reading, whereas War and Peace isn't really a "beach blanket" classic.

Read Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace. Nice, light summer reading. Enjoy!

hi Rosie, my name's Jessica, War and Peace was my first Russian lit read, back in high school for fun, but I completely fell in love with it, it was all I could think about and could barely put it down.. the war in it is what happens to the characters.. like Russian war of 1812, of course everyones lives are going to be affected, like Moscow was burned to the ground, seriously you will love it, dive head in!
