You belong in a boat out at Sea

When I was living in Idaho one c.d lived in my c.d player. It was Tom Petty. I remember that during the time I was up there the second Shins came out, Transantlanticsm, Interpol...(all amazing)I'd give em a whirl and then Tom would worm his way back in. He sang to me about flying, about falling, heartbreak, love, and moving on... All things American. Tonight Tom Petty gave me a lesson in Rock and Roll. His purple hat with a feather in the brim, leg lifts, backwards guitar walks, and the fact that while being the ugliest fuck in the whole amphitheater every woman still wanted him (including the ones young enough to be his granddaughter. i.e. Including me). Rock in Roll is here to stay. God Bless Tom Petty.

i saw tom a few years back. but we were sitting on the lawn close to the drink stand so i don't remember much other than getting bathed in beer from drunk 50 year old men. that's right. beer baths with drunk old men. good times.

i think we are the same person.
that may scare you but it is true.
T.P. is my summer music.
he describes all the UPS and DOWNS that generally rule my summers.
i can't believe we didn't share Petty together.
rather i was gripped locked in the arms of another.
screaming in my head "NO! I am NOT your girlfriend"
