Today my community health clinical group and I went to this Homeless Veterans event and did blood pressure screening and foot care exams and various other "nursing" things. Next week we will be working with African Refugees and then we spend the next 13 weeks at a boys and girls club. We each get to pick and execute a project with the kids. I've decided I'm going to do a workshop, Sabrina Ward Harrison style and have the kids create collage art.
Also, my Critical Care rotation starts next Wednesday, we toured the ICU floors we will be on for the next 3 weeks and I almost stroked out I got so excited. Its not like I wish for it or anything; but the idea of being able to run an actual code at one point this semester is badical. Also, something you could pray/think about is that I'm way on my game the next 3 weeks and don't let the jitters effect my performance. I have to "earn" my spot in NICU or PICU (higher level of acuity for babies and kids) for my preceptorship for the rest of the semester. It's like interning, you work ridiculously long hours for free, practically living at the hospital type stuff. It's the meat and potatoes, baby.
And, today I rode on the back of my first Harley. I am obsessed with that motorcycle. I go to school with the guy that owns it and he said he'd come get me once a week when we are working at the hospital from now on, getting in a car will never be the same for me.

Today it actually occurred to me for the first time that I'm going to be a nurse soon, I am soo happy.
