so this weekend The Colour rolled through town. I have been looking oh so forward to seeing them live, and last night it happened. Nate and Sean drove down from Redding for the merriment, and boy, was there some merriment.
There was pool side Corona drinkin'.
There was some cop/firework action.
There was some high voltage, kick ass rock and roll.
There was a shit load of laughter.
I think my favorite part of the weekend was last night around 3am...cut to shot of the Big Bears (Nate, Sean, Derek, Luke, and myself) sitting at a blackjack table, drinking copious amounts of alcohol and losing a lot of Nate's money. Truth be told when it comes down to it, the Big Bears know how to do it up right.
Maybe it was all those years of forced creativity on top of that mountain.
Maybe it's that we can practically finish each others stories because we've heard them some many damn times we wonder if we might have been there too; and yet, each time they're told it is just as funny as the first time.
I don't know, but last night as I looked around that table I thought, "This is what being blessed immeasurably looks like." Those faces: laughing, drinking, smoking, talking.
Honorable mention must be given to those that weren't there, but should have been. You know who you are. I think we need to do a reunion tour and take the country by storm with our antics.
Tonight Nate, Sean and I are going to eat Chinese food and watch the third season of Arrested Development, and hopefully take the final edge off our lingering hang overs. It doesn't get any better than this....
